Background:<\/u><\/h4>\n

Head Up Display\u2019s (HUD\u2019s) have since a few decades been used mainly in military aviation. Demand of HUD\u2019s and improved HMI (Human Machine Interaction) has past years proliferated to other civil markets as Agricultural OHV’s (Off Highway Vehicles) due much larger data-flows to analyse by machine operators, and cheaper computing and imaging generating technology.<\/p>\n

It is a well known fact that the leap to fully autonomous vehicles pass through supervised autonomous vehicles, and in this intermediate time frame that we predict to a few decades. Augmented Reality (AR) through HUD\u2019s is in the spotlight since it is evident that it will improve machine (OHV) efficiency, safety and ergonomics amongst other. Secondary benefits as lowered fuel consumption with positive environmental impact are also anticipated through improved HMI.<\/p><\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n \t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t

Project Objectives:<\/u><\/h4>\n

Existing high\u2010end Automotive HUD\u2019s of today have a Field of View (FOV) typically up to 6deg and an installation volume of 2\u20106 litres. To achieve higher imaging sizes (FOV) the HUD optical components would have to be immensely large, heavy and expensive. By using injection molded Fresnel optics the FOV can be increased, while the size, weight and costs of the HUD optical components stay low.<\/p>\n

Overall, the ARHO project is about introducing a totally new generation of state of the art HUD optics. That will unleash the full benefit of immersive AR in the OHV market. ARHO Project will produce a working demonstrator to be tested in a relevant AG environment (WP6).<\/p>\n
